Case Study 3: Windblown Oak tree Largs
This mature Turkey oak tree fell on top of the customers double garage during the storms of Jan 2012. As well as causing significant damage to the garage it also blocked the driveway to the home. Ayrshire Tree Surgeons were able to respond quickly and remove the tree with a 28ton Hi-Ab, this prevented any further damage to the garage and the car inside.
Jobs like this require careful planning and access to heavy duty machinery to enable them to be completed safely. The pictures show how the limbs were lifted off to reduce the weight then the video shows the main trunk being removed. Oak weighs approximately 1 ton per m3, giving you an idea of the enormous lifting capacity of the Hi-Ab. This tree was safely removed from site within half a day.
